CPO – Child Protective Organisation
The ACVV Poplarlaan was established in 1959, with one social worker and one social auxiliary worker, working under the auspices of the ACVV Head Office, Cape Town, and a Management Committee in Port Elizabeth. At that time, their services focused on poverty alleviation.

Self-caring families and individuals where family members recognise each other’s rights and use resources as needed.
Mission
To act, together with the community, in the interests of children at risk, families and communities in order to promote self-care by providing protection and development.

Service delivery in the consumers’ home language, as far as possible. The Afrikaans language is cherished by the Society. Women in particular have the ability and responsibility to build bridges in communities.
